چکیده

Quantum algorithms for the simulation of quantum systems described by a Hamiltonian provide an exponential improvement in speed over classical algorithms when one considers scaling of the complexity in terms of the dimension. However, one key drawback is that the scaling in terms of the allowable error, ε, is relatively poor. Here we provide a new quantum algorithm whose scaling with respect to the allowable error is exponentially smaller than previous algorithms. That is, the complexity is polylogarithmic in 1/ε, rather than polynomial. The algorithm’s scaling with respect to other parameters—such as dimension and evolution time—also compares well with previous algorithms.

Gate-efficient discrete simulations of continuous-time quantum query algorithms

We show how to efficiently simulate continuous-time quantum query algorithms that run in time T in a manner that preserves the query complexity (within a polylogarithmic factor) while also incurring a small overhead cost in the total number of gates between queries. By small overhead, we mean T within a factor that is polylogarithmic in terms of T and a cost measure that reflects the cost of co...

Simulation of local scour caused by submerged horizontal jets with Flow-3D numerical model

One of the most concerning issues for researchers is to predict the shape and dimensions of the scour pit nearhydraulic structures such as the base of bridges, weirs, valves and stilling basins due to both financial and humanhazards induced by destruction of the structure. As the scour issue has its own complexity in relation to themultiplicity of effecting factors on it, in this study therefor...

On the Parallel Complexity of Hamiltonian Cycle and Matching Problem on Dense Graphs

Dirac's classical theorem asserts that, if every vertex of a graph G on n vertices has degree at least n2 then G has a Hamiltonian cycle. We give a fast parallel algorithm on a CREW PRAM to nd a Hamiltonian cycle in such graphs. Our algorithm uses a linear number of processors and is optimal up to a polylogarithmic factor. The algorithm works in O(log4 n) parallel time and uses linear number of...

Effects of asymmetric stiffness on parametric instabilities of rotor

This work deals with effects of asymmetric stiffness on the dynamic behaviour of the rotor system. The analysis is presented through an extended Lagrangian Hamiltonian mechanics on the asymmetric rotor system, where symmetries are broken in terms of the rotor stiffness. The complete dynamics of asymmetries of rotor system is investigated with a case study. In this work, a mathematical model is ...

Explicit Or-dispersers with Polylogarithmic Degree 1

An (N;M;T )-OR-disperser is a bipartite multigraph G = (V;W;E) with jV j = N , and jW j = M , having the following expansion property: any subset of V having at least T vertices has a neighbor set of size at least M=2. For any pair of constants ; ; 1 > 0, any su ciently large N , and for any T 2(logN) , M 2(logN) , we give an explicit elementary construction of an (N;M;T )-OR-disperser such tha...
